In 1988 Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher announced a review of the NHS. In 2002, the NHS National Programme for IT (NPfIT) was announced by the Department of Health.  The NHSIA functions were divided into other organisations by April 2005. The total budget of Department of Health in England in 2017/18 is £124.7 billion.
